COPPERHEAD IS LIVE ON EBAY for a 10 day auction. Here is the ebay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134801948708 For the Full Story and rundown on features options and upgrades, please see the ebay ad. Introducing 'Copperhead'. This is a 1957 Ford Panel Van that was converted to a Pop Top Camper Van by Frank, a Ford Engineer in the mid 70's. While Frank did build 2 of these, this is certainly a One of Kind unit! (just Look at it!) After he got it built out, he put it to use. It has traveled into Mexico, up to Alaska and towed his race truck with it to local Texas race tracks. It was built to use and that is what he did. Unfortunately Frank passed away recently and we purchased it from the gentleman that got it out of his Estate. It was complete, ran and drove, but it sat for a few years and needed some updates, and restoration. Rust Free Texas truck, Ford 289 V8, C4 auto transmission about 8,000 odometer miles. New power steering, power brakes with front disks, new rebuilt radiator with dual electric fans, complete tune up, including; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, Accel coil, fuel filters, air filter, and oil change. It also has new dual Batteries, one to start the 289V8, and a deep cell to run the Camper. All new wiring, battery terminals, and relays as well. 4 New 235/75/15 All terrain, Cooper LT White Letter tire.. The springs are custom made, 4 new shocks and the rears are coil spring overloads. New custom exhaust,. We kept the body original as it came with the patina and few minor flaws. We did a textured, bed liner type white paint on the front bumper, Texas cattle guard and back bumper as well. We also matched the wheels and the top, replaced the old mudflaps as well. We even kept the original glass that has the stickers from his Mexico and Alaska trips. Inside you will find a jackknife couch that folds down into a 6'3" long by 3'6" wide bed. New Porta Potty, new AC window unit, 2 burner propane stove top, 12V 110V Mini fridge, Kitchen sink with 12v water pump, 16 gallon water tank, and grey water tank. A few drawers, as well as an old suitcase Bourbon Bar, or whatever your drink of choice is. The Pop Top whis was originally a VW Westphalia and while there is no sleeping area up there, it makes it so you can stand up anywhere in the back of the unit. The top works great, and has new rubber seals. The canvas is usable but has some zippers that don't work. There are both 110V light and a 12V 2 way light over the sink that are original, as well as a 12V light in the cab area. There is also a new blue LED light strip for setting a mood. For updating, we went with 'Industrial' or 'Steam Punk' vibe, with a lot of repurposed vintage items, This unit was Totally Bruced Up, starting with all new vinyl plank wood flooring in the back and new carpeting in the cab. Bruce used clear coated rusty galvanized metal, copper countertop, black appliances, vintage water valve for the drawer handles, industrial looking water tank level indicator, Gears and machinery wallpaper border, black galvanized pipe for the sink faucet, and vintage industrial sewing machine pedals for doors. In the cab you will find Leather Bucket seats are out of a mid 60's Thunderbird. They are very comfortable, the driver's side is a power seat, and they both fold forward as well. There is a minor rip at the seam on the drivers side but they are still in great condition. Nice original steering wheel, The dash is beautiful, with all of the standard gauges. The added gauges include a clock, an early GPS System known as a compass, altimeter, and ambient temp. Frank also added cruise control, and air conditioning. There are switches for Dual Fuel Tanks, Fog lights, map light, hazard flashers, pull knobs for floor vents on each side, and an old school AM FM Radio. There is also an in-dash 12V power port, more known in those days as a Cig Lighter. We hope you like Copperhead. Please let me know if you ave any questions at 616-318-0118
